Inigo Martinez has opened up about his "surprising" chat with Cristiano Ronaldo after completing his move to Al-Nassr.

Martinez, 34, surprised the footballing world after deciding to terminate his Barcelona contract in order to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr on a free transfer. The Spain international has since admitted his decision was financially motivated, describing his bumper new salary as impossible to reject.

Martinez's decision to move to Al-Nassr will see him team up with Portugal forward Ronaldo, 40, with the defender revealing the two have already spoken following his arrival. While Martinez says he had already heard good things about the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star, he could not help but be "surprised" by his new team-mate's positive energy.
WHAT MARTINEZ SAID
Describing his early rapport with Ronaldo, Martinez – in quotes carried by Portuguese publication O Jogo – said: "There's a good feeling; he was waiting for me when I arrived in Portugal [for pre-season training], and we were able to talk. He's cheerful, and I sense a good atmosphere within the group."
