We’re now entering the winter slog of the Fantasy Premier League season and as the nights draw in the injury concerns are beginning to stack up… well they are for Team FootballFanCast at least. The past few weeks have been a constant battle against the treatment table, with YOU, the fans backing our ‘crowd sourced side’, faced with replacing players in a weekly basis.
Unfortunately it’s much of the same this time around with Aaron Ramsey out for the best part of a month. The Welshman has been impressive and the only silver lining is that getting rid of him leaves us with £8.1m in the bank, which is a sizable sum.
The choice is once again yours, but to help you out we’ve narrowed the focus down to FIVE players within budget. Read the arguments and VOTE BELOW for the one you want by midday on Friday!
Roberto Firmino – A bit of a gamble, but the Brazilian looks to be in Jurgen Klopp’s plans now he’s back from injury and really impressed in League Cup action against Bournemouth. He both scored and assisted over 20 times across the 2013/14 and 2014/15 season in Germany’s Bundesliga with Hoffenheim, making him a final third threat for £8.0m.
Andre Ayew – A roaring success since his summer move to Swansea, the Ghanaian is a decent option. His goal against Aston Villa last week was his fifth of the season so far, and even though Arsenal are up this weekend, we think he’s got the potential for points. Looking long-term, the Swans play Norwich and Bournemouth in the coming weeks, both of whom are leaking goals.
Sadio Mane – Luckily for the Saints Mane’s suspension for seeing red at Liverpool came in League Cup action, so he’ll be back for the South Coast derby against Bournemouth. The Cherries’ backline has been breached on 10 occasions in the last two gameweeks… just saying!
Ross Barkley – A budget choice at £6.8m, the Everton midfielder is always good for a goal or assist, making him an appealing option and one we’ve been considering at FFC HQ for a few weeks now. Sunderland travel to Goodison Park on Sunday and have been woeful this season.
Manuel Lanzini – Another cost-effective player with points potential is Lanzini. The Argentine looks to be a favourite of Slaven Bilic at West Ham, and it’s easy to see why. A trip to Watford could be fruitful for the Hammers, who have been excellent on their travels of late.
