Everton boss Roberto Martinez is interested in signing Nathan Redmond this summer, reports The Sun.
The Birmingham City winger has caught the attention of Martinez, who will remain a Premier League manager after leaving Wigan for the Toffees this month.
Redmond, who scored two league goals last season, will cost Everton £3million, as the Merseyside club look to take advantage of Birmingham’s financial issues, forcing them to sell the English youngster.
However, Martinez will have to fight off interest from Swansea, Norwich, Fulham and Crystal Palace, who have all bid £2m for Redmond.
The 19-year-old has come through Birmingham City’s academy, and featured in all three of England Under-21s group matches in the European Under-21 tournament in Israel this month. Redmond was a late call up when Andros Townsend pulled out of the squad, but was one of the most praised English players in a disappointing campaign for the nation.
Martinez has identified Redmond’s potential, as he looks to add to his new squad. But with other Premier League clubs interested, the former Wigan player and boss will need to ensure he isn’t outbid by another club.
Martinez will hope to sign Redmond before the club’s first pre-season friendly, as the Toffees face Austria Vienna on 14th of July.
Would Redmond do well in the Premier League? Is he ready for a top club like Everton?
