da betsul: As reported by The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool will not give up their pursuit of Naby Keita without a fight and are set to return to RB Leipzig with an improved offer.
What’s the story?
da bet sport: Jurgen Klopp has already done a major bit of business this summer by bringing Mohamed Salah to the club but if the Reds are to truly compete for the English Premier League title next season then they’ll need to ramp up the spending.
It’s clear the Reds have that in mind with The Echo reporting that they have not been dissuaded in their pursuit for Naby Keita despite having a £57m bid for him rejected last week.
The paper say Liverpool are set to up the offer to an eye watering £65m this week, hoping that will be enough to land their man.
The question is though, is he worth it?
Worth it?
The Liverpool midfield, for all their strengths, were often criticised last season for not doing enough to protect their defence. It led to situations where defenders were swamped and ultimately conceded. If Liverpool held their own all season in an attacking sense but were often found lacking defensively, conceding far too many goals.
They need more defensive prowess in the middle of the park too and that’s where Naby Keita comes in. The Guinean international has excelled in the Bundesliga for Leipzig this season and could add real energy and the defensive skills required to stop opponents bypassing an often absent midfield.
His high tempo style is perfect for the Premier League and given he can also move forward with the ball with skill and poise, he seems like the correct option for Liverpool.
The reported £65m is a lot of money but ultimately could be worth it if he adds to the Reds midfield what they’re missing most.
