Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after they saw that Emre Can had netted an incredible goal on his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund.
The former Reds midfielder – who joined Juventus on a free transfer in June 2018 – found chances hard to come by in Turin, with his situation summed up by Maurizio Sarri’s decision to leave him out of the club’s Champions League squad, a move that did not go down well with the 25-cap Germany international.
As a result, he joined Jurgen Klopp’s former side Borussia Dortmund in January on an initial loan deal, with the Bundesliga club obligated to sign Can in the summer for £21m.
Incidentally, on his first Bundesliga start for Dortmund, the former Bayern Munich man netted a quite brilliant goal against Bayer Leverkusen – another former side of his – in which he took two touches before whipping a fantastic strike into the top corner from roughly 30 yards.
Given the fact that the German made 167 appearances for Liverpool, his effort for Dortmund didn’t take long to reach the Reds fanbase on Twitter – let’s see what they had to say…
To kick off the reaction, Scott Groom called Can’s strike an “absolute worldie” although conceded that the midfielder never showed that kind of brilliance enough at Anfield.
Then, Broken Monkey echoed that statement by saying that, while the 26-year-old has “moments of brilliance in him”, he has “many more moments of bang average-ness”.
Elsewhere, these two supporters had contrasting opinions on their former No.23 after they heard of his wonder strike.
ManicMan said that Can is “miles better than Hendo” in what is a hugely bold statement to make given the fact that the Liverpool captain is currently being mentioned as a potential PFA Player of the Year winner.
On the other hand, @RockyKlopp said that, while it is “good to see” Can flourish, he was “never getting into” the starting XI at Anfield.
Lastly, these two fans also shared their views on the German after watching his strike.
Rob said that “hopefully” Can won’t get “delusions of grandeur” and seek a move again.
Someone’s got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?
Then, Aaron simply showed that he still has a soft spot for the midfielder by saying “bring him home”.
