He’s struggled with injuries and has had to play second fiddle to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo across the campaign, making just 24 starts in all competitions. He also had to watch from the bench for the majority of their massive win over Juventus.
However, everyone knows the quality he has and having won seven major honours with Madrid, including three European titles, you’d hardly call his time in Spain anything but stellar.
Signing him would be a real coup for Manchester United, who appear to be looking for another marquee signing following on from last summer’s moves for Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
